Install Shh!! on your Android phone or tablet, open the app and follow the setup steps. Shh!! needs two things to work:

• camera access, to recognize your hand gestures
• the Accessibility Service, to perform the action your gesture asks for

Once both are granted, hold your hand in front of the front camera and try an open palm.

Shh!! recognizes four gestures:

• Open palm — play or pause
• Index up — next or forward
• Thumb down — previous or rewind
• Thumb up — like or action

Hold the gesture still for a moment, at a comfortable distance from the camera, in reasonable lighting.

Shh!! works the same way on Android phones and tablets. The gestures, the setup steps and the permissions are identical on both.

On a tablet propped up in the kitchen or on a stand, keep your hand within the front camera’s field of view.

Android’s Accessibility Service lets Shh!! carry out the action a gesture requests — pausing playback, moving to the next item, or using supported on-screen controls.

You can grant or revoke it at any time in Android Settings, under Accessibility. If gestures are recognized but nothing happens on screen, this permission is usually the reason.

Shh!! needs camera access to see your gestures. Recognition runs locally on your device, and the camera content used for it is not uploaded or stored by Shh!!.

You can manage the permission in Android Settings, under Apps → Shh!! → Permissions. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

If a gesture isn’t recognized:

• check that the front camera isn’t covered
• move to better lighting and avoid strong backlight
• keep your whole hand in frame, palm facing the camera
• hold the gesture still for a moment instead of moving quickly

If the gesture is recognized but no action happens, confirm that the Accessibility Service is still enabled. Some apps also limit which media controls other apps can use.
